Summer at the Arlberg is full of little adventures!
A wonderful destination for families is the Sennhütte above St. Anton am Arlberg. Here, the WunderWanderWeg invites you to discover nature with fun experience stations along the way; perfect for both children and adults. After the walk, you can enjoy a small afternoon snack and a homemade schnapps while taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
From Gletscherblick
to the Sennhütte
For hikers, one of the most beautiful routes starts directly at Hotel Gletscherblick in St. Anton am Arlberg and leads along the Sonnenweg towards the Rodelalm. The trail takes you through impressive mountain scenery, with beautiful views of the valley and surrounding peaks along the way. From the Rodelalm, it’s just a short and enjoyable walk to the Sennhütte, a perfect destination for a family day out.
The Sennhütte is also easily accessible by e-bike. From Hotel Gletscherblick, follow the village road towards the centre of St. Anton. From there, the route continues uphill through the upper part of the village and on to the Sennhütte.
Senn’s WonderWalkingWay
Around the Sennhütte, the adventure continues for visitors of all ages. The lovingly designed Wonder Trail invites guests to discover nature in a playful and engaging way. Whether you are a young mountain explorer or simply enjoy being outdoors, every stop along the way offers something new to discover. To bring the beauty and variety of nature to life, the hut owners have created seven themed areas and trails:
- Alpine Flowers and Herbs Trail
- Wonder Forest
- Tree House
- Kneipp pool
- Nature playground with ball track
- Barefoot path
- Edelweiss Trail
With passion and expertise, herbal education specialists and hut owners Tanja and Lisa have created the Alpine Flowers and Herbs Trail. Along the path, visitors can learn more about local alpine herbs and discover how they are used in regional cuisine and traditional remedies. Once a week, guided herb walks offer the chance to explore the world of mountain plants together with the experts. Many of the herbs are used in the dishes served at the hut or made into homemade herbal products and spirits.
Highlight: Wonder Forest & Barefoot Path
The Wonder Forest starts directly at the Sennhütte and follows the Maienweg trail towards the idyllic Maiensee in St. Christoph am Arlberg. Along the way, various activity stations encourage children and adults to play, explore and connect with nature. The Kneipp pool near the hut provides a refreshing break, helping to cool down and revive tired feet after a hike, especially on warm summer days. The Trail is a beautiful combination of nature, movement and shared experiences for the whole family.
